Dr. Clay Beggerly, a self-confessed "southern boy" and motorcycle rider, joined Iowa Heart Center's cardiothoracic surgery staff in 1994.

A native of Alabama, Dr. Beggerly holds a bachelor's degree from Loyola University of the South in New Orleans, and a medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile. He served general and cardiac surgery residencies at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC, and the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City.

Following his academic training, Dr. Beggerly served as an assistant professor, department of cardiothoracic surgery, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, and was a staff physician at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, KS.

In addition to heart surgery, Dr. Beggerly holds a special interest in lung surgery.

Dr. Beggerly is board certified in thoracic surgery, and currently practices at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge.
