Biography

Dr. Daniel Shivapour joined Iowa Heart Center in the Summer of 2018.  He was born and raised in Burlington, Iowa.  He received a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience and Biochemistry from Dartmouth College and a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) with research distinction from the University of Iowa.  He completed internal medicine internship and residency at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) followed by subspecialty fellowships at the Cleveland Clinic in Cardiovascular Medicine, Interventional Cardiology, and an additional advanced fellowship year in Structural Heart Disease.  His clinical interests are in the areas of coronary intervention (PCI) and transcatheter structural heart interventions (e.g. TAVR, transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement, ASD/PFO closure, and other associated procedures).

Dr. Shivapour is a strong supporter of medical education and has taught medical students at Harvard Medical School, Ohio University, and Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine.  Outside the hospital, his hobbies include spending time with his family (wife and two sons), traveling, skiing, golf, tennis, and cheering for the Hawkeyes and Cyclones sports teams. 

Dr. Shivapour is board certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, and Internal Medicine.
