      The Iowa Heart Foundation will partner with Iowa Heart Center/Mercy-Des Moines and Des Moines University to host a FREE community education event on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, from 6- 7:30 p.m. featuring Timothy S. Harlan, MD (aka Dr. Gourmet) and Chef Leah Sarris of Tulane University's Goldring Center for Culinary Medicine. These nationally known speakers will discuss the health benefits of a Mediterranean diet and demonstrate tips to incorporate healthful foods into your daily life.  Heart healthy snacks will be provided by Whole Foods Market.

      Location:Des Moines University Student Education Center Auditorium at 3300 Grand Ave., Des Moines. Free parking available adjacent to student center-turn south at 3200 Grand Avenue to access the ramp or surface parking.

    26th Annual Cardiovascular Today Conference

    • Iowa Heart Foundation’s annual Cardiovascular Today Conference increases knowledge of diagnosing, treating and preventing cardiovascular disease. The conference includes a variety of lectures, panel discussions,  small group discussions and exhibits aimed at physicians, physician’s assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, radiology technologists, coders, medical assistants, EMS providers and sonographers.

      The 2017 conference will be held on February 4, 2017 at the  Ron Pearson Center (formerly Hy-Vee Conference Center) in West Des Moines.

      Featured guest speakers include Tim Harlan, MD (a.k.a. Dr. Gourmet) and Chef Leah Sarris of Tulane University's Goldring Culinary Medicine program.  Dr. Iraklis Pipinos, Vascular Surgeon/professor at Univeristy of Nebraska will present "Peripheral Vascular Disease....".

      Early bird registration ($40) before 12:00 p.m. January 27, 2017. Registration after 12:00 p.m. January 27 is $60.
